SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 38

Congratulating the Marshall University football team for winning the Southern Conference Championship and the Division I-AA National Championship.

Whereas, The Marshall University football team brought pride to the state of West Virginia by winning the Southern Conference title for the third time in history; and
Whereas, The Marshall University football team, with a record of 15-0, won the Division I-AA National Championship; and
Whereas, The outstanding sportsmanship and team spirit of each of the team players, under the direction of head coach Bob Pruett, helped bring the national title to the state of West Virginia and Marshall University; and
Whereas, The outstanding season ended with eleven players being named to the first team All-American and nineteen players being named to the first team All-Conference; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Senate:
That the Senate hereby congratulates the Marshall University football team for an outstanding season; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Marshall University football team is congratulated for winning the Southern Conference title and the Division I-AA National Championship; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the president of Marshall University and head coach Bob Pruett, who was named the 1996 Chevrolet National Coach of the Year.
